FULL FLOATING DIALS

Another feature pioneered by us for customer convenience.  When operating a lathe or mill without DRO, the machinist must count his dial turns and read his motions in the increments of his dials.  SHOPMASTER  machines have always featured dials in inch increments, with each mark measuring 0.001", 1 turn equaling 0.100" and 10 turns equaling 1.00".  This important feature allows the operator to maintain precise measurements in his work.  To further enhance this feature we made all our dials fully floating  .  If the operator comes up against a part, he can now rotate the dial to 0 and begin his cut from an easy reference point, rather than counting from some odd number.  Many of those old 1980's designed machines do not have floating dials and are often marked in odd increments because they use metric leadscrews.
